- Definition of clandestine transnational actors

- Scope of the book
which is not a study of immigration and national security but rather of the
"racial impact of post 9/11 policies on immigrants and communities of color" (Nguyen XVI).
- What the book consists of
personal stories community profiles, Nguyen's thoughts
- Policies that affected and threatened immigrant community
